Kekec Land

Today, Kekec Land is alive again. Kekec and his companions the wicked Bedanc, his mysterious aunt Pehta, the wise Vitranc, friendly and gentle Mojca and fearful Rozle, can be found in the mountains, where children between the ages of 3 and 10 are allowed to go. Kekec will offer children sour milk and corn mush and allow them a peep inside his hut and listen to the stories from long, long ago.



Kranjska Gora is the birthplace of Josip Vandot, who is the author of stories about the young shepherd boy Kekec, whose inquisitiveness often gets him into trouble, but who always manages to get out of it with his courage and cunningness. The stories of Josip Vandot give us a unique insight into the life several years ago and a series of excellent children’s movies was based on his work.
