The Kekec festival

The Kekec festival takes place in the second week of the summer school holidays with a rich and interesting programme of events and animations for the entire family, at the centre of which are the fairytale heroes created by Josip Vandot, who provide plenty of amusement for all.

In addition to appearances by children’s dance and folklore groups and appearances of well-known Slovenian musicians, there are also the following activities:

  • sport and entertainment (e.g. cycling, leisurely strolls, roller blading, climbing school for the young, canoeing, swimming, archery, mystery tours, horse riding, golf …),
  • trips in the countryside (e.g. Pehta event, following in the footsteps of Josip Vandot, a visit to Kekec land),
  • workshops (e.g. pottery, T-shirt designing, braiding, making rafts …)
