The “Mayor” is gone, but the house still stands...

The owner of the Špan House, which is supposed to be the oldest in Mojstrana according to oral tradition, was a very influential and wealthy villager. The house name Špan derives from the word “župan” (mayor).

The Špan family dealt with transport. However, they also had a meadow and a pasture on the Mežakla Plateau.

See the preserved Baroque elements on the façade of the Špan House: painted ornaments, sewn corners and a sundial, showing the time since 1747.
